Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Empowerment Project
THE LEPROSY MISSION is the leading international Christian charity providing treatment, care and rehabilitation for people and communities affected by leprosy. As well as providing medical and social services, the Mission also facilitates the development process in communities across 28 countries in Africa and Asia.
The role: This post offers an exciting opportunity to develop the CBR Empowerment Project in order to facilitate sustainable integrated CBR and self care for people affected by leprosy and people with general disabilities throughout Timor Leste. Working with the communities and alongside the Ministry of Health and other NGO’s you will develop and manage the implementation, administration and finance of this new project. You will also be required to develop a disability and CBR working group, establish sustainable CBR within the country and train and develop local staff in CBR.
Requirements: You must have previous experience in project management within a development context, preferably in South East Asia, with at least 2-3 years experience in community based development. The ideal candidate will be a strong team player with excellent communication and inter-personal skills and be fluent in written and spoken English. Knowledge of Indonesian or Portuguese would be an advantage.
Additionally you will be required to personally support the Christian ethos, values and objectives of the organisation.
The initial contract will be for 2 years with a period of 2 months home leave at the end of the contract. We will provide a local living allowance, accommodation, flights and insurance.
